After a beautiful drive down south from the border into Baja California, we arrived at the magical town of Bahia de Los Angeles. Upon arrival we first stopped at the local gas station to fill up our truck and we were welcomed by a very friendly gas pump operator. We asked what popular beaches were good for camping in Bahia de los Angeles and he recommended “Playa la gringa” which is the most popular. He also recommended other beaches which can only be accessed by boat because there is no car access to them. After inspecting through our satélite map we were drawn to a very small bay that formed just south of the Bahia de Los Angeles. Off the grid and aways from the crowds! Sounds like a perfect spot to explore.

Our friend from the local gas station recommended a very reputable boat tour company “Ana Isabel Sport Fishing and Tours” that could assist us with the logistics of taking us to the small bay.

After negotiating a price we were charged 100 USD for transport to the small bay and back. We planned on staying 2 nights so we set a date and time for them to pick us up.

Before leaving town we were told that this location has no fresh water, no bathrooms, no food/markets, no electricity basically completely off the grid. You will need to be prepared to have all the supplies, water and food for the days you will be staying.

After a 25 min boat ride from the town port we arrived at our destination, it was definitely more beautiful than expected. The bay was surrounded by volcanic boulders forming small hills and mountains. Crystal clear calm water with so many marine life , there would not pass one second without fish jumping out of the water.

As we were looking for a place to stay we were immediately attracted to a Palapa shade that would be perfect to set up camp. We were expecting to be closer to the sandy beach of the bay but having a solid roof is a big win. Perfect for hanging hammocks .

We unloaded our gear and said farewell to the boat captain. We had everything set to live off the grid for two nights in this majestic paradise.

If your looking for a quiet, peaceful secluded camping spot this is where you want to go. There is plenty to do during the day. There is a couple of small mountains around the bay which you can hike, crystal clear waters allow for great snorkeling around the reef in from of the palapa, bringing fishing gear is also highly recommended.

You will not regret this epic adventure!
