Run the longest continuous route along the East River and pass by Carl Schurz Park, Randall's Island Park, and Thomas Jefferson Park.

Bobby Wagner Walk has beautiful views of the river and Queens, and is the oldest segment of the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway, a 32-mile, discontinuous path around Manhattan. This quiet, easily accessible route is a great escape from city streets.

A pedestrian bridge at East 63rd Street is the southern-most entrance to the path. Head north from here, with the water on your right and the FDR Drive on your left. You can continue as far as the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, around East 125th Street, which is 3.6 miles from where you started. Be aware that pedestrians and runners share this path with cyclists.

If you decide to run north to south, and want to continue to the East River Esplanade segment of the Greenway, there is an on-road detour around the UN between E 37th and E 63rd Streets. You can also extend your run on Wards and Randall's Islands, accessible by a pedestrian bridge at East 103rd Street.

Run by the East River Reviews

You can run or bike on this pathway - it's very beautiful, especially in the area that parallels Roosevelt Island.

Running out here can be a challenge wherever you start and it's a great place regardless of experience. However you must keep an eye on the paths as bikers use it as well and they are usually at top speed
