Silver Falls State Park is the largest state park in Oregon. Once you have paid a $5 entrance fee and parked your car you are ready to hike. Look for signs leading you to "the Trail of Ten Falls". Once you are on the trail you will encounter lots of things, including the ten falls. Keep your eyes open for small 2-6" newts, snails, and banana slugs. We saw some over 6" long!

The forest is simply amazing, with a deep green moss covering everything like a blanket. It's like something out of Alice in Wonderland. The falls range from around 30' tall to over 177' at the largest. The trail was quite easy to navigate with signs leading you exactly where you want to go. It can get rainy and a bit muddy so bring your rain jackets and waterproof boots. To have a nice leisurely hike, plan to be gone for around 3 hours.
