Hiking La Jolla's Ho Chi Minh Trail
San Diego, California
Description
Added by Alyssa San Agustin
Leads to a beautiful secluded beachClose walk to San Diego's infamous mushroom beach houseNot as crowded as other beach hikesMany adventurous opportunities on this hikeDistance: 2.4 miles roundtripDuration: 1 hour (more if you decide to spend time at the beach)
You will need to park your car on the street (plenty of street parking). From the street there is a trail in-between two homes with fences on each side. You'll know you've come across the right place because there is a sign.
From the beginning of the hike you will be greeted with a beautiful ocean view and then you start to go downhill. Once you're downhill you will need to cross a wooden plank to get to the other side of the trail. If you need to you can hold onto the tree branches next to this plank to ensure that you don't fall.
After, you are met with the beautiful sandstone walls. There is a narrow man-made staircase that you will go down that is carved into these sandstone walls. You may need to free your hands so that you can hold onto the walls for stability. From there you continue walking along a narrow path along the walls. Below, you will be able to see a water feature running down to the beach.
Once you reach the end of the cliff you will notice a rope tied to a tree. You can use that rope to help yourself get down to the beach. If you don't choose to use it I guarantee you will need to going back up.
Once on the beach you have a few options. If you turn left and keep walking you will eventually come across a mushroom house on the beach. It is closed to the public but you are welcome to take pictures of it, stand next to it, awe in it's weirdness. This secluded beach is very large with plenty of opportunities! I've heard though that if you venture too far you'll come across the nude beach so be prepared if you're feeling adventurous! After such an adventurous hike rewarding yourself by jumping into the cool waters of San Diego is my best advice!

Hiking La Jolla's Ho Chi Minh Trail Reviews
Such a beautiful trail and a great way to get down to Blacks. Just be EXTREMELY careful as it's very slippery.
