The trail is beautiful with plenty of sights/waterfalls/views along the way. The main view is STUNNING, and it’s approximately halfway through, so it’s a wonderful break. If you do the loop, none of it feels repetitive, which was a nice touch as well. All in all, the trail was everything you would hope a trail would be. That being said, the trail is loooong. Make sure you start early because you will be ending late. This goes without saying, but bring water and food. You will need to recharge. This is an all day journey, even for average-experienced hikers. I cannot recommend it enough!

The falls are GORGEOUS. Try to go when you suspect no one is out and about (not a Saturday), and you might get lucky like we did, where there was absolutely no one the entire day. We just sat and swam at the foot of the falls for hours. It was absolutely incredible, and a must if you’re looking for a date idea or just a place to feel secluded for a bit. DEFINITELY, go if it’s raining/drizzling. The hike itself is not that difficult, so it’s very possible while raining, and the falls are BEAUTIFUL when overflowing PS. A nearby resident’s german shepard accompanied us the entire hike. He is super friendly and will just hike with you and sit near you the whole day! Give him some pets and say hi to him for us!

The hike is QUITE difficult. The scenery the whole way is beautiful, but the hike itself is so taxing that you’re often just focused on your footing, not your surroundings. It’s ~3 miles if you go towards Rainbow Lake and then West towards Rainbow Falls using Cumberland Trail (when you hit the rope bridge, don’t cross it. Keep walking past it, and you should see a sign that says Cumberland trail). The falls themselves are beautiful, but the descent to the falls and ascent back up afterwards is GRUELING to say the least. I would say the falls is probably a 4.2 stars sight IF it rained sometime in the past 3-4 days. If not, I’d give it 3 stars. A bit lackluster after that tough a hike. So absolutely try it if you like hiking and it rained somewhat recently! If not, I’d save this for (literally) a rainy day
