Not as popular as nearby Table Mountain, but incredible nonetheless, Devil's Peak offers a 360° view from its summit and is a perfect place to snap some swell pictures of Cape Town.
Starting from the parking lot on Tafelberg Road, simply head south from the trailhead and follow the path as it meanders up multiple switchbacks. Stay on the main path at the 4-way junction and continue going straight up through the pine gully and eventually you'll reach the saddle. From here, follow the path as it turns to the east and head up along the now tree-less slope of Oppelskop Ridge (you'll eventually come to a T-junction with a large rock, called Breakfast Rock, so hang right. At the next T-junction, continue going straight [or slight left]) until you reach the gap. From there, it's a simple scramble to the summit. Overall, this hike isn't too complex, as long you have a Map since there are several other trails that intersect with this one.
If you're lucky, you might see low clouds flying through the gap or you might even spot some of the escaped Himalayan Tahrs that are rumoured to still be hanging out in the area after escaping from the zoo years past. Rock hyraxes, porcupines, caracals, mongoose, and lizards abound, as well as various fynbos and wildflowers.
Note:The wind up at both the summit and the gap between Oppelskop Ridge and the summit ridge can be extremely powerful. Don't wander too close to the edges, since a quick gust of Atlantic air could push you off.
Also, the actual distance is hard to find online, but this hike is reported as taking approximately 4 hours roundtrip.

Hike up Devil's Peak Reviews
This trail is the perfect choice for anyone wanting amazing views of Table Mountain and Cape Town. Beware, this hike is not for the faint of heart - it begins with several switchbacks, is continuously uphill and challenging. It is well-marked, well-kept and you have the freedom to turn around at any point and head back down. I recommend you bring plenty of water, wear good shoes and bring your camera.
