Hike to Ingersoll Abandoned Mine

Drive into Keystone, take a right on Old Hill City Road, drive for a little over two miles, you'll pass both Kemp's Kamp and the K Bar S Lodge, and look for Echo Valley Dr. on your left. As soon as you pass Echo Valley Dr, keep your eyes out for a pull off on the right.

Once you get to the trailhead take the trail, which is the road used when the mines and mill were still in operation to haul minerals down. You'll follow trail about 30 minutes up to the mine.

The mill is the first thing you will come across and it is very old, like . You can explore inside and get some pretty awesome views of the Black Hills, however, keep in mind that it is not a maintained property so be cautious when exploring inside. 

Further up behind the mill you'll find a few old mining tunnels to explore that still have old cart tracks and pipes scattered throughout. If you're planning on exploring any of the mining tunnels, remember your headlamp. There are some "skylights" but a majority of the tunnels are very dark with rocks that are very easily tripped over. 

This hike doesn't take much time to complete, so when you're finished, I highly recommend taking the scenic Hwy 16 to Hill City (about 15 min) to visit the Miner Brewing Co. for some quality brews!
