Explore an Eastern Washington gem loop hike through larch trees and an old growth cedar forest! The trail follows a mossy creek and then climbs above Liberty Lake, providing views of the lake and Spokane Valley. Total mileage: 8.0 miles, roundtrip. Elevation gain: 1,200 feet. Highest point: 3,120 feet.
This 8 mile loop hike begins from Liberty Lake Regional Park, just 30 minutes away from Spokane! The first mile follows a dry grassy meadow and swamp. Make sure and look for beaver dams and houses! The trail winds up into the hills above Liberty Lake. At 2.0 miles, you reach one of Spokane's last old growth cedar forests.
Continue to follow the switchbacks another mile and take in the views of Liberty Lake. At the top of the ridge you will find a waterfall! This fall there wasn't much to see at the waterfall, but I'm sure it is something to see in the spring. The trail winds along a dry creek bed and through more cedar trees until you reach the top (4.0 miles from trailhead) where there is an old hut built by boy scouts. There is no view at the top, but enjoy more cedar trees and a well kept trail that loops back down to the trailhead.
Liberty Lake in the winter makes for a great snowshoe adventure!

Beautiful hike. Amazing waterfalls, wild flowers and wildlife. Have seen moose and bear on the trail.

Awesome hike! Takes around 3.5-4 hours to complete the loop. Lots of side trails that seem to take you further into the mountains if you decide to take them. Views of Liberty Lake are nice and the trail is well maintained. Went on a Saturday and there was some heavy traffic.

A little more intense on the inclines than expected but still worth it and definitely beautiful! Dogs loved it too :)
