Newly constructed, short pathway to connect Wausau area bike loop

From South Mountain Road, turn onto Trillium Lane behind the Rib Mountain Fire Station. Follow Trillium Lane southeast, which acts as the bike path, to the dead-end where a small parking lot is.

My friend and I strolled the wide paved path through the wooded wetland area. This project was just completed in September 2020 and is of solid construction, featuring trash receptacles, dog bags, boardwalks and paving.

Unfortunately the path parallels the major Highway I-39. The noise from the highway is nearly deafening at times. I would consider bringing Beats along next time to cancel out the echo of road noise, and add some lyrical pleasure.

The path is beautiful, but short at about 0.8 of a mile. I can imagine this being ideal for strollers or tikes on trikes...well, except for the noise. We did carry our walk onward to Foxglove and Azalea Roads. From Azalea, one can connect to the walking bridge over the Wisconsin River. This would extent the jaunt to probably five miles.
