Description

Rising over 200 ft above the Wisconsin River and the surrounding valley, Gibraltar Rock is a tucked away overlook in the Devil's Lake region and definitely worth a hour of your time.
Starting at the trailhead at the base of the hill, follow the paved asphalt path that ascends the backside of Gibraltar Rock. While the trail is paved all the way to the top, there are sections of it that are rather rough due to tree roots tearing the pavement up. There is also a slightly longer dirt trail that winds up the hill, as part of the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, which you can use to loop back.
Once at the top, enjoy the views and walk along the short loop trail that rings the top of the hill for panoramic views of the Wisconsin River and the Baraboo Range, which is home to Devil's Lake State Park. Once finished, loop back on the Ice Age Trail.
