Relax at Rainbow Beach, St. Croix
Frederiksted, U.S. Virgin Islands
Description
Added by John Maurizi
Rainbow Beach is open to the public and offers some great water sport opportunities. The water is clear and little to no waves to speak of so it is great for relaxing in the warm water, snorkeling or renting a paddle board.
Rainbow Beach is one of the more popular beaches on St. Croix. It is not associated with any resort and only a few minutes outside Frederiksted on Route 63. There is parking on the side of the road but this fills up quickly, especially on weekends when most locals set up and have picnics and barbecues.
There is a bit of a steep drop into the water but once in, the water is calm and clear. There are a few rocky areas easily avoided as the water is so clear you can see where you are stepping. Of course the rocks serve as a great place to snorkel and see how many different tropical fish you can find. We liked this beach so much we came back a second time during our visit.
Next to the beach is West End Water Sports which has kayaks and Stand-up paddle boards to rent. Next to that is one of the best restaurants for lunch on the island, Rhythm Restaurant. You can easily make a full day at Rainbow Beach.
